I am a firm believer in principles. I like rules but I love principle. Rules are there to govern the way things are done, like sports because without them it would be chaos.
However, rules can be broken, and often are, without any punishment or consequence. for example, when you exceed the speed limit on the highway but are not pulled over by any authority then you suffer no consequences. So, rules need to be policed in order to have any effect.
Principles, on the other hand, can never be bent or broken without any consequences. One of the best principles which we should learn very early in life is that we reap what we sow. This is an important principle that we would do well learn. when we understand the power of principles, we will never have a problem with the rules, no matter how trivial we think they are.
Principles are defined as a fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning. The very nature of principle serves to showcase our character and we would be well advised to ensure that we become persons of impeccable character as this permeates everything we do in life … principle mirrors character.
